Under programs set up by the Affordable Care Act, the federal government cuts payments to hospitals that have high rates of readmissions and those with the highest numbers of infections and patient injuries. - By Jordan Rau OCTOBER 27, 2021
Our PostCare™ Discharge videos can educate your post-surgery patients at the bedside, and then reinforce your discharged patient at home with video streaming email links to your website, YouTube channel, or our free streaming service¹. These short videos can be watched on all portable devices, paused for step-by-step instruction, and reviewed indefinitely.²
Built on a Strong Foundation our PostCare™ Discharge Instruction and Home Care Tasks evolved from the PreOp® Recovery section in our propriety PreOp procedure videos. After years of producing several series for Thomson Reuters, Delmar "Medical Assisting Video Series," "Nursing Assisting Video Series," and "Long-Term Care Nursing Assistant Video Series," We expanded the recovery section. We teamed up with Dr. David Allan, the scriptwriter of these series, and with CMTv Productions, redesigned the PostCare™ tasks for non-professional caretakers.

Properly washing your hands is pretty straightforward; general wound care is more complicated; removing and changing a Foley Catheter is challenging. An oops moment may take you back to the hospital, and the hospital gets penalized by Medicare!
- Below are look-up tools for each type of penalty.
- You can search by hospital name or location, look at all hospitals in a particular state, and sort penalties by year.

Let's watch the Foley Catheter instructional video for a newly discharged patient or their family caregiver.
How about the Ureteral Stent Instructions?
After watching these videos, do you think you could perform these tasks for yourself or a loved one? I will add a post-poll for your answer, and we'll offer results in our following Newsletter.
𝙋𝙧𝙚𝙊𝙥® 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙢𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙋𝙖𝙘𝙚𝙢𝙖𝙠𝙚𝙧 𝙄𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 video comes with our Basic PostCare™ tasks, Handwashing, Disposable Glove Use, and Wound Care.
Recommended are the PostCare™ Task, Assist with Shower, Assist with Tub Bath and Assist with Feeding
When we created these tasks, we intended to support the discharged patient and homecare aid with a list of supplies to perform the job safely. Therefore, you will find a small section in the videos, "what you will need..." Do you see this section as meaningful, and more importantly, would the presentation experience be better with links for product offers on Amazon?
Amazon offered PreOp® a storefront as part of their Amazon Influencer Program. But, of course, everything is an effort in a small company, and building a store with these PostCare™ suggested products will be an undertaking.
Example: PostCare™ Basic Task - Basic Wound Care
- 2 pairs of clean disposable gloves,
- cleaning solution,
- small gauze pads for cleaning,
- large gauze pads for dressing the wound,
- adhesive tape,
- a large sealable plastic bag.
So what do you think? Is it worth it to patients and their caregivers to suggest product links in our patient education model?
Please let me know below in the comments area with an opinion or thought.
