I just had a cystoscopy yesterday and it was not really painful. Okay, it was slightly uncomfortable sometimes but really nothing to worry about. Urinating after the procedure hurts for a couple of hours but in my case, it stopped after eight hours already. So I hope that my comment here can help you to relax and go for it with less concern.

My father had this done years ago and it caused impotence. He became very depressed afterward. I'm not sure if any improvements have been made since, but don't wait till the last minute to research it.

I went to the enlarged prostate surgery but using laser instead of this method.
Surgery was very successful and I feel like never had this problem before.

Just had this done, a few days discomfort is worth being able to pee like a normal person and sleep all night, not getting up 6 times and nothing there,,,if you need it, get it done,

if i got overactive bladder is it recommended cystoscopy! the problem that am having is passing urine frequently but not pain just a lil bit of pain to my left ovary cause am having 3 cm cyst (fluid)! even when i lay on the bed specially on right side on the left i can't sit, i still feel passing urine! may i know what kind of treatment will i have and what will they do to me i need to go to the hospital 4 this problem! i will appreciate it if someone specialist will tell me! thank you!

oh there was one last thing i forgot, some people actually do come here for information. don't go by the comments since those are extremely juvenile comments while hiding behind the keyboard . sorry about the hard response but in your attacking men (overall) based on an assumption i had to jump in, it's a clinical video, and that's how some see it (as it should be )

My son is 2 months old and only has one kidney due to multicystic dysplastic left kidney but he's having this done on October 19th cause he has some blockage... If it's scar tissue then they will operate him. I'm scared but I know it's for the better. They are putting him to sleep for it :(

I"m 82 years old, and I had this procedure done about two years ago and it was totally successful! Now, my urine flow is normal. My problem was SLOW urine flow which is now perfect. God bless surgery procedures!

There's no need for a sedative and I've never had a catheter inserted. Just a quick scoping and you're done.

My 5 y/o son is having this done in a few days. I feel so bad for him.

You have to take it easy for a few days after the surgery, but the only lasting effect is that you can't get anyone pregnant. (A few people report chronic pain, but that's rare and more common in the types of vasectomies done decades ago.)

My granddad has to go in for this tomorrow and after seeing this, i don't want to lose my granddad, please pray for and quick suggestions i don't know what to do he has been wearing a catheter for 4 months now and is in pain because of it but he has to wear it so he can urinate, almost lost him in 2010 due to multi-myeloma, grace to all God bless!!!!

I had a TURP in December. I was anesthetized and there was no pain at all. And afterward, I had only a little discomfort when peeing, which went away in a couple of weeks. In fact, I wish they hadn't given me so much anesthesia. I was zonked for 15 hours after the operation.

My husband's urologist did not tell us how this would be done. Had female staff and was embarrassing. They put cath in and we removed at home. Female nurses again in recovery looking at it every chance got. He was not helped by procedure. We were duped. Feel like both violated.

+Mumtaz Juneja . Ask for the pathology report (it may take a week), then see what is the final diagnosis then look it up on the internet and you will get very well informed of all the choices available if need be.

I was strongly anesthetized and there was no pain at all. Though as I said, I could certainly feel that endoscope moving back and forth, and the feel of clipping as the surgeon was cutting away tissue. In fact, I would advise anyone who has this operation to ask for LESS anesthesia. They gave me Fentanyl and I was zonked for 15 hours after the operation.

my 12 year old nephew has these symptoms.. will he be ok? if the preop can hear me, he xxxs a lot for no reason he tells me, will he be okay? he also has the same symptoms as that. will he have to get injected or is it puberty? plz reply

'just got a cystoscopy today. dec 1 at Surrey Memorial Hospital. to anyone who's having a cystoscopy just relax it did not hurt at all i just felt a little sting when the doctor injects a freezing jelly then when the cystoscope entered my urethra it didn't hurt at all. i just felt a little uncomfortable and a little pressure. but no pain at all. after the exam i just had a slight burning sensation when i pee for the first time. so just relax you'll do ok, there's nothing to worry about, trust me'

It is painful, it has side effects that vary from case to case: the most fearful is permanent urinary incontinence, also loss of ability to experience sexual orgasm and chronic pelvic pain.

I had this in 2013, still in diapers, my Doc said 1% chance of leakage. After the TURP He Said 10% was normal. What a quack!!!!!

For the one who got upset from the metal & this operation, I want to say that the pain which occurs from enlargement of the prostate gland is more than this procedure. And complications of the enlargement are more bad than you think. You know, some patients come to the surgeons & ask them: please you do whatever just relieve my f'en pain bcoz I can't void, I can't sleep, I can't eat or drink so for god sake take it out... I wish that we will not get prostate gland enlargement ......... Go

This is very good information for anyone awaiting prostate surgery. I hope no man will feel ashamed or afraid to speak with their health care provider when experiencing symptoms of an enlarged prostate. It is common; it is treatable.

I had the procedure 12/2016. left the hospital the next day without a catheter. Everything works, NO side effects. I'm very sorry for all the guys where this was not the case.

I am amazed at how many brain-dead people watch you tube. Most cannot spell and they seem to think virtually everything is porn! The porn I have seen involves a hell of a lot more grossness than any of this. Having tubes inserted into the ureter is not pleasurable, its bloody uncomfortable but very necessary to give people a better quality of life.
